Welcome to the Quarterly Survey of Wholesale Trade for the quarter ended 31 March 2025

Purpose of this survey

To collect information from a cross-section of New Zealand businesses involved in wholesale trade to provide short-term indicators for the wholesale trade sector. This data is also used to compile Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to measure economic activity in New Zealand. These statistics help government and other organisations in planning and decision-making. This is a mandatory request under Section 23 of the Data and Statistics Act 2022.

We have high standards for keeping your information private, secure, and confidential. The information we collect is primarily used by Stats NZ and authorised researchers to produce statistics and research to benefit New Zealand. We do not identify individuals in published statistics or research. We may release some information about businesses in accordance with the Data and Statistics Act.
